SDSU VITA

SDSU VITA

11 MAR 2024 UPDATE: We continue to receive inquiries regarding appointment availability. Unfortunately, as a free service, we are limited by bandwidth with the number of appointments we can handle. In an effort to serve as many clients as possible, we will be opening up a waiting room each week for VITA. This will be separate from the normal VITA meeting; however, if a scheduled appointment does not show up or we are not able to complete their return for one reason or another, we will pull someone from the waiting room, on a first come first serve basis. By entering the waiting room, you understand that VITA may still not be able to prepare your tax return and you may wait the entire day only to be told to try again the following week. Additionally, by entering the waiting room, you are letting us know that you are ready and have your tax documents available. We will require you to have Form 13614-NR and Form 14446 prepared prior to entering the waiting room. To get added to the waiting room invite, please email vitasdsu@gmail.com and let us know the earliest date you are available for the waiting room. We have three remaining days of VITA preparation: 16 March, 23 March, and 13 April. Your priority for that day will be determined when you enter the waiting room. Upon entering, we will not know when you may be seen so please understand that if you leave the room that your place in line is not held. Additionally, you will need to be near a computer to provide the proper documentation. This system is not perfect and we understand that; however, we are operating as seamlessly as possible given our bandwidth constraints. Thank you for your understanding and have a great day.

We provide VIRTUAL Federal & California state income tax return preparation services for qualified NONRESIDENT individual taxpayers. Although appointments are scheduled for 50 minutes, we ask that you allocate 2 hours in your schedule for completion (especially during appointments in February & early March). Approximately 3 days prior to your appointment, you will receive email instructions on how to join the Zoom session.

1. If Schedulista does not allow you to schedule an appointment then that means we are full. You can continue to check back to see if additional appointments are available or if someone cancels. If unable to book an appointment with SDSU VITA, other options available to you are: Sprintax, Glacier Tax Prep, or a tax professional. Do not attempt to complete a non-resident tax return or commercially available tax preparation software (i.e. TurboTax).
2. Please be sure to fill out Form 13614-NR and sign Form 14446 prior to your appointment.
3. Please do not schedule more than one appointment time slot as appointments are extremely limited this year (~50% less than last year).
4. Please do not schedule an appointment if you did not have income in 2023 (you likely only need to fill our Form 8843 which you can do yourself).
5. For any questions, please contact vitasdsu@gmail.com (questions such as are you a resident or non-resident or if you are unsure if you only need to fill out Form 8843 or a tax return can be answered prior to your appointment time). By asking these questions early, it may be determined that either SDSU VITA cannot assist you or you do not need to have an appointment thus opening up slots for others.
